About AllSet
AllSet is two people: Tanner Gaffey and James Kemp. We are from St. Croix Falls, WI. On top of being business partners, we are also roommates and bandmates, which means we have been building things together long before this was a business.
I’m Tanner, and what follows is mostly my telling of it, since I’m the one who dragged us into this in the first place.
How this started
James and I had been talking about starting a business for years. The first big push came when I saw a 3D printer at my grandma’s over Thanksgiving. I couldn’t get over how the same spool of plastic could make anything. So we bought one, in the hopes that it would be a good way to keep trying ideas until one stuck.
The printer lasted for a few weeks. What actually stuck was what came next. I started learning about automation and AI and building small systems for myself. That’s when it clicked that this could help real people, not just me. The people it helped most were the ones running a small business or keeping one running. That’s what AllSet builds now.
How we work
I do most of the client-facing side; James is who I build alongside. Neither of us disappears once the work starts.
When you work with us, you work with us. We don’t have a sales team, we don’t have subcontractors. The two of us scope the problem, build the solution, and stay on to keep it running.
We start with one real problem, not an overnight transformation. We build on the software you already run, and we show it working on the real problem before it goes anywhere near the rest of your business.
Why us
Outside of AllSet, I am pursuing a Master’s of Social Work, so a lot of how I work comes from sitting with people and actually listening before deciding what they need. That carries over to AllSet. We’d rather understand how you actually work than hand you something that assumes you’ll change to fit it.
We’re local. We love this area and love the community, and we love working with our clients. If something breaks, you know exactly who built it and where to find us.
